"Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?
When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?

When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?"

... inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me."

Matthew 25:37-40

MISSION

White Dove Newsletter The word Philoptochos means "friends of the poor." From its inception, Philoptochos has exemplified Christian Stewardship in nearly every area. Visiting and caring for the sick and elderly ... providing for the poor and needy ... reaching out to heal the infirmities of our changing society ... giving moral support to families torn apart ... these are only a few examples of our Christian Ministry of Love "If there is among you a poor man ... you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs ... for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand." DEUTERONOMY 15:7-10

VISION

White Dove Subscription Form Our vision today is the same as the one first presented to our forefathers over 60 years ago by the then newly elected Archbishop Athenagoras at his first Clergy-Laity Congress in New York City in November, 1931.

"Freely you have received, freely give."
MATTHEW 10:8

"Be a part of this National movement and begin to solicit funds, food, clothing and anything else that will bring relief to our needy brethren; provide housing and cooperate with the Welfare Department of your city and other Philanthropic Institutions for better results. Indifference to the cries of our suffering brothers is a crime. We must care for the needy through the advancement of the work of Christ. The Bible speaks to us continuously about charity. Jesus based our eternal happiness on our concern for the poor, and Saint Paul tells us that charity is the only thing that has eternal value and he admonishes us never to cease practicing charity."
Ecumenical Patriarch Athenagoras - October 20, 1932

This vision for Philoptochos began in our Past, is with us in our Present, and will continue into our Future ...
Our vision remains ongoing, Then, Now, and Tomorrow ...
